One Month Remaining To Submit 2012 Grant Applications
There’s just one month remaining to submit your 2012 Grants applications with the final date for receipt at RFSA HQ – April 20, 2012.
The annual Grants program is one of the RFSA’s major initiatives, with the program providing financial assistance to brigades, support groups and districts for items and purposes not covered by direct Government or Council funding such as training equipment like TVs and DVDs, or capital expenditure items like buses and trailers.
Grant funds can be applied for across two tiers. Tier 1 grants are for individual brigades or support groups and can be for items up to $5,500 GST inclusive. A collective of brigades or a district generally apply for the higher threshold of $55,000 GST inclusive available under Tier 2.
The Wallaby Joe NSWRFS volunteer brigade is a medium size brigade located in the Wingham surrounds. They are in the Manning Team, Greater Taree District and applied for a Tier 1 grant for a ride-on mower and brush cutter in 2011.
Brigade Deputy Captain, Chairperson for Taree RFSA and member of the Manning Aviation support unit and Community Engagement committee, John Dorrington explains their motivation to apply for the grant:
“We sought the grant for the ride-on mower and brush cutter to not only assist us in keeping the surrounds of the station tidy but we also wanted it to help us in our work with the elderly and disabled people in the community to help them keep their properties fire safe.”
“The Grants application is reasonably straight forward – it’s a step by step process. I fully encourage brigades to apply and support the efforts of the RFSA to assist all members of the RFS to do their job safely and effectively”.
Grant funds are generated by the RFSA Raffle.
