RFSA thanks NSW RFS Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons
The NSW Rural Fire Service Association (RFSA) has today extended its gratitude for the service and commitment shown by NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons as he announced his retirement this morning.
Following a horror bushfire season, the RFSA has particularly acknowledged the significant leadership Commissioner Fitzsimmons displayed as he led NSW RFS volunteers and staff through the emergency.
RFSA President Brian McDonough said Commissioner Fitzsimmons’ many decades of leadership should be celebrated, and congratulated him on his new role as he heads up the State’s response to disaster preparedness and recovery.
“The relationship between the NSW RFS and RFSA continues to be a significant one and we want to thank Commissioner Fitzsimmons for always being a strong supporter of the Association,” Mr McDonough said.
“We know Shane has always put the needs of volunteer firefighters first and we really want to acknowledge the extraordinary work he has done, not only with the past fire season, but over his 35 years of service to the RFS.
“We wish Commissioner Fitzsimmons all the best with his new role at Resilience NSW. The RFSA looks forward to continuing to work closely with the NSW RFS and congratulates Deputy Commissioner Rob Rogers on his promotion as the next Commissioner,” he said.
