rfsa-submits-to-nsw-worrkers-compensation-review
The RFSA believes compensation arrangements for volunteer emergency service workers should remain incorporated in stand-alone legislation.
Earlier this year, the NSW Minister for Finance and Services, Greg Pearce, announced the release of an issues paper outlining a number of options for reform of the NSW Workers Compensation scheme. A Committee was set up on 2 May and is due to report by 13 June in respect of these terms of reference:
• The performance of the scheme in the key objectives of promoting better health and return-to-work outcomes;
• The financial sustainability of the scheme; and
• The functions and operations of the WorkCover Authority.
To provide "an opportunity for consultation and review" the Government referred the matter to a Joint Select Committee inquiry.
