An Essential Outcome
The Hon Michael Gallacher MLC, Minister for Emergency Services, has responded to a significant matter the RFSA raised in its document ‘Building a Rural Fire Service for 2030’ which was released prior to the 2011 NSW State Election.
Mr Gallacher addressed concerns raised in the policy document and subsequently in letters from RFSA President Brian McKinlay, about how dramatic increases in rental charges levied on NSW Rural Fire Service Communication sites created adverse effects on the day to day funding of the service.
It is pleasing to learn directly from the Minister, of the intent of the NSW Rural Fire Service and Essential Energy to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding to entitle the NSW Rural Fire Service to utilise Essential Energy’s communication sites without, or at minimal cost.
· Essential Energy is a NSW Government owned corporation with the responsibility for building, operating and maintaining network services across 95 per cent of NSW.
