Passion and commitment recognised with RFSA Awards and Honours
NSW Rural Fire Service Association (RFSA) Members from across the state have the opportunity to recognise their fellow members’ effort and commitment, with nominations now open in the Association’s annual Honours and Awards program.
The RFSA has three award categories: Young Member of the Year, Member of the Year and Life Member.
Chairperson of the Honours and Awards Committee, Winifred Wilson said the awards provide an excellent opportunity for members to recognise a colleague or mentor who devotes their time, effort and skill to make both their community a better place to live in and the Association stronger.
“These people are not only there for the community at their time of most need but they are also there for their fellow RFS Members to support them and make the service even better ” Ms Wilson said.
The current Member of the Year, Lance Hartley, from Southern NSW said his award has been true recognition from his peers for the time and effort he has put into the development of the service and the Association at the local brigade, local district and division level.
“To be recognised by my fellow Members is an honour and I would recommend whole heartedly for people to nominate someone who they believe is doing a great job with the NSW Rural Fire Service Association,” Mr Hartley said.
“For me receiving the award provided me with recognition and gave me great personal satisfaction for doing something which I love and am passionate about.
“The award has also provided me with the opportunity to attend a conference associated with rural fire fighting, so this will further enhance my ability to improve my fire-fighting skills.”
