EOI
The Rural Fire Service Advisory Council (RFSAC) consists of nine members and has the following functions under the Rural Fires Act:
a) * To advise and report to the Minister and the Commissioner on any matters relating to the administration of rural fire services under the Act
b) * To advise the Commissioner on public education programs relating to rural fire matters and training of rural firefighters
c) * To advise the Commissioner on the issue of Service Standards
d) * Such other functions as may be conferred or imposed on it by or under the Rural Fires Act or any other Act.
The Advisory Council may give advice and make reports, whether or not the advice or reports were requested.
Three members of the Council are appointed by the Minister on the recommendations of the Association. Two of the three Council Members appointed by the Minister are to be members of a rural fire brigade and one is to be a Fire Control Officer.
A vacancy currently exists for one of the two volunteer rural fire brigade member positions and EOIs are sought to fill this position (closing date 25/4/2014). The Council meets at least twice a year and the appointment term is five years.
Any volunteer rural fire service member is eligible to submit an EOI. These will be reviewed by the RFSA State Board having regard to the following :-
· Experience/Background
· Qualifications
· Communication skills
· Demonstrated knowledge of the NSW RFS
