RFSA supports new directive on use of u-turn bays
We’re delighted with the release of a new operational directive that allows for RFS vehicles to use u-turn bays on major roads.
The RFSA has been pursuing this issue with the Commissioner and government for a considerable time, and it is an incredible relief to see it finally resolved.
The previous restrictions on the use of u-turn bays have now been removed, with the option to use u-turn bays available to RFS vehicles across the state.
As always, drivers are responsible for taking care when operating vehicles, and must consider whether or not it is safe to use a u-turn bay.
Going forward, Transport for NSW will be conducting risk assessments of individual u-turn bays, and advice will be shared with Brigades about which u-turn bays in their area are safest to use.
We are grateful to everyone at the RFS who has worked with us to achieve this result.
