Wambelong Fire Inquiry – Response to Government
The Association has submitted a document to the NSW State Government in response to the recommendations made in the Legislative Council’s report into the Wambelong Fire near Coonabarabran.
In February 2015, upon the release of the report, the Association expressed disappointment at some of the recommendations. It was noted the Government is required to respond to the recommendations within six months. To assist in this regard, a reply to each of the twenty-nine recommendations has been tendered to the Minister for Emergency Services, The Hon. David Elliott, MP.
The comments made on each recommendation are based on feedback from Members of the Association including the views expressed by members of State Council along with comments presented by a number of NSW RFS fire fighters within the Castlereagh Zone who were involved in the emergency.
The Association is committed to supporting and representing Members views in a professional, constructive and dignified manner that achieves results and it hoped the official response will be helpful to the NSW State Government in addressing the recommendations contained in the report.
A full copy of the Association’s recommendations will be made available to Members in due course.
