The NSW Rural Fire Service Association welcomes the Government’s responses to the 2013 Wambelong Fire Inquiries recommendations
The NSW Rural Fire Service Association (RFSA), the representative association of the men and women of the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW Rural Fires Act 1997) has welcomed the Government’s responses to the recommendations of the Parliamentary and Coronial inquiries into the 2013 Wambelong fires.
“We welcome the initiatives being undertaken by the NSW Government and the members of the NSW Rural Fire Service to further strengthen the capability to prevent and respond to bushfires and to protect the community in such times,” advised RFSA President Ken Middleton.
“The NSW Rural Fire Service and its members are professional, resilient and open to accepting new technology, procedures and implementation, for their primary motivation is to protect the community. It is a privilege to represent and advocate on their behalf.”
The Association provided support, additional background, suggestions and comments to the majority of the recommendations and based its responses on feedback from Members of the Association including the views expressed by members of its State Council along with comments presented by a number of NSW RFS fire fighters within the Castlereagh Zone who were involved in the emergency.
