RFSA inducts new Life Members
(L-R) RFSA Life Members: Tom Nolles AFSM & Terry Brown
The Association was pleased to induct Tom Nolles AFSM and Terry Brown as RFSA Life Members at a presentation ceremony conducted at the recent State Council and Annual General Meeting.
Tom Nolles AFSM, from Division 8, has been an active member of the RFSA for over 18 years, representing the Western Division (later Division 8) at State Council. Tom is a strong advocate for the people he represents and served as Division 8 Secretary until early 2016.
He was a member of the RFSA Grants Committee and has been instrumental in organising meetings with local Members of Parliament in an effort to pursue issues of concern to the RFSA. Tom is always willing and available to assist at Field Days and takes a keen interest in the Associations’ activities.
In 2015, Tom was awarded with the Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) under the Australian Honours Scheme for outstanding service to the NSW RFS for over 31 years. One of Tom’s greatest attributes is his wiliness to listen to alternate views and readily accept outcomes which may not always coincide with his personal opinion and he has always acted in a dignified manner when representing Members.
Terry Brown, from Division 3, has been an active member of the RFSA since 1998. He has been particularly involved with the Great Lakes and Manning Community Liaison Engagement Team, where he performed the role of committee chair and was responsible for the development and promotion of many activities, service standards and standard operating procedures within the RFSA and NSW RFS.
Currently Chair of RFSA Division 3, he continues to represent the views of all volunteer and staff members of the NSW Rural Fire Service and provide effective management of the Division, as well as, representation on State Council.
Terry consistently displays the highest level of excellence in RFSA participation and is committed to ensuring the most effective means are in place to directly influence such things as legislation, fire service structure, brigade funding, training, health & safety and equipment standards.
He leads by example and is determined to ensure the RFSA continues to grow and prosper into an ever improving organisation.
The Association congratulates Tom and Terry on their recognition and achievement. They are both worthy recipients of the RFSA’s highest award of Life Member.
