RFSA awards recognise excellence in NSW Rural Firefighters
The NSW Rural Fire Service Association (RFSA) is committed to recognising the achievement of its Members through an annual Honours and Awards Program.
Nominations are now open and Registered RFSA Members are invited to take this opportunity to recognise fellow Members who have demonstrated a high level of excellence in RFSA participation.
Chairperson of the Honours and Awards Committee, Winifred Wilson, said nominating is easy and encourages all Members to take the time to recognise those who make notable contributions to the Association’s projects and endeavours.
“While many don’t expect recognition, I think it is important to demonstrate that their commitment to helping fellow RFS members in their work to protect the community, has not gone unnoticed,” said Mrs Wilson.
The Awards are divided into three categories: Life Member, Member of the Year and Young Member of the Year.
Life Member is the highest award the Association can bestow and is presented to those who have made a prolonged and significant contribution to the Association’s growth and success.
Member of the Year awards a Member who has made exceptional contributions to the Association’s programs and projects, while Young Member of the Year recognises these same qualities in a Member under the age of 30.
Mrs Wilson said the awards not only celebrate the achievement of existing active members but can inspire others to involve themselves with the work the RFSA does.
Incumbent Member of the Year, Lisa Edmonds, was recognised in 2014 for her unwavering assistance to fellow RFS Members who described her as “inspirational” in her roles as Administrative Officer at Northern Rivers Zone Fire Control Centre and Branch Secretary RFSA Division 1.
“Lisa is always willing to share her knowledge and help her colleagues whether that is by ensuring access to information or simply just being there for assistance. She has worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth running and advancement of the RFSA in her Division and always contributes in the best interest of Members,” said RFSA President Tim Arnott upon presenting the award.
Nomination forms, guidelines and policies for the three award categories are available from the RFSA website or can be requested from RFSA Office. The awards will be presented at a ceremony in June at RFSA Conference 2015.
The closing date to receive nominations is Friday, 8 May 2015. For further information on the 2015 RFSA Honours and Awards Program visit the RFSA website www.rfsa.org.au or contact the RFSA office on (02) 4722 2122.
