The RFSA today welcomed the Federal Government's decision to extend tax deductible donations to all volunteer rural fire brigades. The change in legislation announced by Assistant Treasurer Senator Nick Sherry, will effectively help over 2,000 NSW Rural Fire Brigades attract donations.

29 June: RFSA Signs MOU with Rural Fire Service to formalise Workers Compensation arrangement for volunteers

The RFSA has signed a Workers Compensation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Rural Fire Service ensuring financial comfort and certainty to RFS volunteers who have suffered long-term injuries in the line of duty. The MOU is downloadable from ABOUT US > Committees > Working Groups

16 August: RFSA Says Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission Hazard Reduction target 'misses the point'

The RFSA said today that the 5% minimum hazard reduction target recommended by the Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission was Victoria-specific and unworkable in NSW calling on the State Government and opposition to support an increase of 300% in additional funding from the current $6.5 million.
