The RFSA is proud to sponsor the 9th NSW Rural Fire Service Combined Districts Fire Boat Exercise on Saturday, 7 March on the Hawkesbury River.
This event is the largest gathering of fire boats in the Southern Hemisphere and the second largest in the entire world.
It will feature fourteen competing boats together with four Marine Rescue Boats, several RFS logistics boats and several private work boats. Participating crews will consist of some 180 personnel resulting in the 2015 exercise being one of the largest in the event’s history.
The day will consist of five individual events designed to test the participant’s skills, to observe and assist in developing future training regimes and to promote teamwork with other Emergency Services and Agencies.
Event scenarios have been designed to provide a very broad cross section of possible responses which water borne brigades may be called upon to attend irrespective of the crew size, style of boat or equipment carried. Scenarios on the day will include Sinking Vessel, Marina Fire, Vessel Fire, Pump Staging and Ladder& Rescue/Basic First Aid/ Transportation.
