Open Now - NSW RFSA Grant Scheme re-launched.

Friday, 01 July 2016

After an extensive review of the Association’s giving programs and consultation with members and Brigades, the RFSA is pleased to re-launch the NSW RFSA Grant Scheme.

The Grant Scheme is one of the RFSA’s most admired programs and has benefitted numerous NSW RFS Brigades and Districts over many years.

The scheme assists Brigades and Districts in their endeavour to improve the level of equipment, training and welfare to members.

A suite of changes have been made to the program to better align with the Association’s 2016-2018 strategic objectives.

A welcome change sees no closing date, with applications open year round.

Other key revisions are that if the grant application is approved, it is to be fulfilled by the Brigade or District within 12 months, and priority will be given to applicants that have not received a NSW RFSA grant within the past three years.

Applicants will need to source a supplier quote and if approved, procure the item themselves. This acknowledges the close ties between Brigades and their community and will help keep funds within the local area.

A new requirement is that all applications must be submitted to the local RFSA Branch, which will then assess and review it before making recommendations to RFSA Divisional Representatives, with final determination being made by the RFSA Board.

Under the new scheme, applications fall under two categories – Brigade Grants and Special Grants

Brigade Grants are for individual brigades to apply for items up to the value of $5,000 excl GST.

Special Grants allow Districts or a collaborative application from a group of Brigades to apply for large ticket items or projects up to $25,000 excl GST in value.

The RFSA acknowledges and appreciates the support the Association receives from the people of NSW who support the NSW RFSA fundraising raffles and, in turn, assist in making the Grant Scheme possible.

Enquiries relating to the NSW RFSA Grant Scheme, application forms or the submission process can be emailed to  or contact the office on P: 02 4722 2122 and ask for a Grants Team member.
