NEW CEO OF NSW RURAL FIRE SERVICE ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCED

Friday, 22 February 2019

Sharon Ellicott has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of the NSW Rural Fire Service Association (RFSA) and will continue to lead the Association’s mission in supporting the 70,000 volunteers and staff members of the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS).

Ms Ellicott has taken the position of CEO after 5 months in the role of acting-CEO, and 3 years in the role of Commercial Services Manager for the RFSA. Ms Ellicott is a CPA, holds a Bachelor Degree in Commerce and comes from a long career in finance and accounting.

As the RFSA’s first female CEO, Ms Ellicott said that irrespective of gender, she has big shoes to fill.

“First and foremost, let me acknowledge the dedication and hard work of outgoing acting-CEO Trevor Anderson,” she said.

“Together with President Ken Middleton, we can not thank him enough for his outstanding efforts in progressing the work of the RFSA and for always putting its members first.

“Specifically, Trevor has been able to impart over 30 years of NSW RFS Corporate knowledge during the period he acted as CEO, and was heavily involved in the development of policy positions adopted by the RFSA including workers compensation reform, emergency services funding, and more recently the 40kmp/h speed limit campaign.

“Whilst the organisation is not new to me, I am relishing the challenge of this new role, and I look forward to working with our members and stakeholders to advance the RFSA and its members here in NSW.

“The safety and welfare of our members is of paramount importance and I will work hard to ensure that the Association continues to meet their expectations,” said Ms Ellicott.

RFSA President Ken Middleton said Ms Ellicott will be a strong advocate for the 70,000 volunteer fire fighters across the state.

“On behalf of the board and the Association, we are delighted to officially welcome Ms Ellicott as our new CEO and throw the full weight of our support and endorsement behind her,” said Mr Middleton.
