Brigade in Focus: Murrumbateman

Murrumbateman Rural Fire Brigade, in Division 7 was first established in the 1930s.

It enjoys a proud history and strong community support and also has a famed former member, Sir Walter Merriman, who was renowned as establishing one of the country’s finest wool producing sheep studs.

The brigade has been very busy building an extension to their fire shed.  When complete the station will have greater storage space for trucks and trailers as well as male and female bathrooms, a shower and kitchen and a control room that can be used for coordination

Deputy Captain Raymond Hehir recently received a Commissioner’s Commendation for Service for his exemplary effort over an extended period of time in the building of the extension. Ray was hands- on throughout the process; involved in the design and organisation of all the works.

The brigade has a Cat 1, Cat 2, Cat 7, Cat 9 a Cat 17 and a Cat 1 dual cab group truck.

A recent success was their Masquerade Ball, a great night and a sell out event which raised over $20,000 for the local NSW RFS brigades.

Murrumbateman holds its training on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month commencing at 6.20pm. No need to wear masks though - all welcome.
