The RFSA is committed to supporting its Members to protect the community. It achieves this objective through a range of 'giving' programs that directly benefit Members.
The RFSA Grant Scheme provides $1 million annual financial assistance to individual brigades, support groups and districts for purposes not covered by Government funding.
Opportunities for Members to gain skills and knowledge are supported by the RFSA through ongoing sponsorship of NSW RFS programs that include, but are not limited to, State Championships and Regional Exercises, various District exercises, Volunteer to Career Workshops, Young Members Group, and the Australian Fire Cadet Championships.
Another RFSA initiative has been the creation and continued funding of the Rural Fire Fighters Foundation, which provides assistance for Members or dependents of Members who are injured or killed in circumstances associated with activities of the Rural Fire Service.
To further enhance the professional and personal development of Members, the annual President’s Scholarship and the Chris Lord Memorial Scholarship are collectively provided for two volunteer and two RFS staff RFSA Members, considered to be outstanding representatives of both the NSW RFS and RFSA.
